By February
2020 when these pictures were taken significan progress had been made
retubing the boiler. Alll the small diamerter tubes were in
place and two of the superter tubes as well.
|
Meanwhile,
in the workshop progress had been made setting the center driving
wheels on the 'rolling road'. The device goes underneatj the
engine to the opposite driving wheels and is used for very fine turning
of the wheels to accurately set the valve motion.

|
A
more
comprehensive view of the device. The long white pole stickin ug
is on a ratchet and is where the force is applied to turn the wheels. |
Alex
Naismith had been busy in the morning cutting the 'U' ends off the old
superheater tubes to keep for spares. |
|
The steel
container had been used to store 80105's parts either prior to,
or after restoration. However it was having to be emptied and
removed to make way for the new 'Steaming Ahead' workshop.
|
The largest,
and heaviest, item in the store was an air pump, required if the engine
is ever
going to run on the main line. It was donated by Mr Riley in
return for some work carried out by the volunteers. It was
decided to store it on top of another container out of harms way.
